Shyla is the first cat I ever had. I got her when she was little kitty that weighted about two pounds. We have really bonded, especially in the last few years. She is a little more cautious around people than Calvin is, but once she gets to know you, she is very affectionate. She is actually more affectionate to me than even Calvin is.

Shyla is amazingly smart. For example, she loves hair ties (things you use to put your hair in a ponytail). No matter where I hide them, she finds them. About a year ago, I started concealing them in a cup in my medicine cabinet. It did not take her long to learn of my hiding place nor to figure out how to open the medicine cabinet. Since then, I have given up on trying to hide them.

Shyla is very graceful and athletic. Some of the jumps and flips she does blow me away. She is also a very sweet cat. When I got Calvin, she was a little jealous but it did not take her long to adopt him. Shyla often plays the mother role with Calvin (actually, Shyla's sister is Calvin's mom). This, among other things, shows how nice she is. I feel very fortunate to have her.
